Scav Hunt 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

This is a shorter update. Every year the Scav Judges have teams set up stations on the main quad where they provide some service to everyone else in the community. This year, item 250 requires teams to serve tea on the main quad from 11:00 to 2:00 (am to pm, though we wouldn't put it past the Judges to do the reverse). Item 324 is also part of "Scav Service." Teams must get as many members as possible to head to the DCAM (which is part of our hospital) and donate blood. Here the Scavenczar (see previous post) enjoys some iced tea from Snell-Hitchcock.

Over at Max Palevsky, a man in drag was serving and everyone was speaking in a British accent. This must have been a theme assigned by the judges. You may not really be able to tell from the previous photograph, but Snell-Hitchcock's tea house had an Asian theme. We think that this in fact may be the Scav Hunt version of the Mad Hatter's tea party, which some of you know well from our essay questions this year. Of course this is just the regular Mad Hatter's tea party. I think they should have taken the lead of one of our applicants and invited Ann Coulter, Ward Churchill, Kim Jong Il and Donald Rumsfeld, but that's just me.

Jon Mark and Libby sample the cucumber sandwiches at Max P's tea house. I can't tell whether they are happy or sad with the results. We couldn't stay for the scones, unfortunately, so we'll have to try again tomorrow.

A loyal Max P Scavvie studies for item 4: "You've got 24 hours to document as many native bird species as possible within 75 miles of Chicago. Proof of observation by team members during the fourdays should be submitted by 3:00 in the Ante Meridiem on Friday - and no zoos or aviaries."
